    The witch Semras sees her quiet life in the woods upended the day Inquisitor Estevan Velten walks into her home. He’s not here to burn her at the stake, like he did to many witches before her, but to consult her on a murder.
    Semras’ expertise with poison is requisitioned to acquit the sole suspect—a member of her coven whose guilt he doubts … or so he claims.    She’d do anything to save a coven sister, even if it means allying with an enemy. That is, if the mercurial man doesn’t drive her insane first. He threatens yet defends her; he mocks yet praises her. His every word contradicts his actions, yet Semras can’t help being attracted to the resolute man beneath the lies.    But Estevan is as damnably seductive as he is dangerous.     The Woven Worlds is a series of standalone dark fantasy romance books, each set in the same fantasy universe inspired by 18th century Spain and Renaissance Italy.    The magic of witches wanes generation after generation, the bones of ancient fey lords lie long forgotten amidst ruins, and even their age-old enemy, the Inquisition, struggles to maintain its place in a world that is quickly judging them all to be irrelevant.

About the author

    E. M. Riedl—or Emri for short—is a Canadian geek who always wondered why authors needed biographies. When not plagued by the existential crisis of having to write about herself in the third person, she spends her leisure time playing role-playing games (of the video and tabletop variety) and reading about obscure history facts far too late into the night.    Ever since she started writing fantasy books at the inadvisable age of ten, Emri has been pursued by plot bunnies. She had successfully run away from them before completing anything—until now.    Her time of blissful, daydreaming procrastination ended with A Weave of Lies, her debut standalone novel. Emri is now planning many more fantasy romance books set in the Woven Worlds universe.
